It is not easy to get your signature in drawing right away. However, there are basic ways that may help you in discovering your art style. Here are 4 useful ways to help you find your own style in drawing.

We always have that " I wish I could draw better" or "I wish I could draw like him/her" line as an artists but whenever I hear it from someone and they wish they could draw like me, my answer is simple: "Find It". Honestly, i still have a long way to go but I always tell them that they don't have to draw like me or draw like anybody else because as an artist it is very important to have our own art style so that we could be able to stand out and have a body of work that is reminiscent to us as the creator, just like having a signature, other people would know that it is ours because it's our identity. But how did i discovered my own style?

Here are some ways that I did when I was trying to find my Art Style:

Know your interest

“Art is in all things, All things is in art" -Laura Jaworski

As someone who is new to drawing, i find it very hard to know what i want to draw, I first started by drawing flowers, then i switched to animation, then to cartoons until i find what really interests me the most which is realistic drawing. But if you still don't know what your interests are, i would suggest that you search the genre of an Art that you want and just draw anything you see, it could be a person, an object or an abstract until you found that one thing that makes you comfortable and it makes you express yourself more then reproduce it in different angles.

Decide what medium to be used

After you discover what you want to draw, now you have to explore any Art mediums. When i didn't know how to use any mediums, I started off with pencils, I learned the shadow techniques and I used charcoal for blending then i switched to color pencil then to water color until i discovered how to use acrylics from watching Youtube videos and i'm comfortable with it and It's what i'm using now. My point is, don't be scared in trying other mediums even if you're not familiar with them, you could watch video tutorials or ask your co-artists about it and don't think about failure or anything else, just enjoy your discovery until you find that medium that you really want to use.

Express yourself

Be original, show off your style, and tell your story.”

Now, you know what you want to draw and you know what medium to be used, now is the time to draw with thinking of expressing yourself. You could search 3-5 Art styles from your favorites Artists and combine them, you don't have to copy them, you are creating a new art style from the combinations of art styles. and then find your color palette. sometimes, an Art style is identified through the colors that are used by the artist. So, if you express yourself you also express your emotions and these emotions have a corresponding colors, you may use it in creating your Art work.

Practice

I know it's hard, and you already heard it over a thousand time but, we can't deny that practicing is the key. It doesn't make everything perfect but it improves the quality of your work and it enhances your skills. It is only by practicing that you will discover more or beyond what your art teacher is teaching you, it is only by practice that you get to correct your artworks and it is only by practicing that you get to master your own craft. So keep the fire burning and practice you heart out!

Create with passion, surely you will find your way soon.
